🌍 Volunteering at Hnízdo is more than just working at school

01.10.2026

European Solidarity Corps volunteers come to HnĂzdo primarily to become part of the everyday life of our schools and kindergartens. But their volunteering experience goes far beyond the end of the school day.

We want the time they spend with us to be a truly meaningful experience – an opportunity to meet new people, share moments together, explore the local area, develop their interests and gradually become part of the local community.

That is why, throughout the year, we also create a varied programme of activities for our volunteers.

Together beyond school

Some activities are a natural part of life at HnĂzdo, and our volunteers also take part in preparing them. These include community and school celebrations, Christmas stalls, the HnĂzdo Family Ball and our summer camp.

But it is not just about helping with organisation. These are also opportunities to meet children, parents, guides and other people around HnĂzdo in a completely different setting from an ordinary day at school.

Alongside these events, we also offer activities that are entirely optional – yoga and dance, trips together, team-building activities or even a visit to a climbing wall. Everyone can join in according to what they enjoy and feel like doing.

And there is space for the volunteers' own ideas too. If they would like to organise a trip, workshop, sports activity or come up with something completely different, we are happy to help them make it happen.

Because the volunteering experience matters

For us, ESC is not just about finding a place where a volunteer can help. It is also about taking care of the person who has arrived in a new country, a new environment and a new community.

That is why we try to create opportunities for volunteers to build relationships, share experiences, relax, try something new – and simply enjoy meaningful moments together.

Because it is often these small shared moments that create something truly valuable: the feeling of belonging.

And we are always happy to see volunteers who first arrive as guests from different corners of Europe gradually become people who belong at Hnízdo – part of our community.
